Yoshimura Japan to make exhaust for Yamaha T135
ASK any bikers about modification and the first thing they will point at is their exhaust system.
It is normal for new bikes to have their cans (what they refer to as mufflers) to be replaced even before the bikes hit the road.
Among the top brands is Yoshimura. The famous "3E47" (what the Japanese characters look like on its logo) has been around since 1954, supplying superbikes and maxi scooters with performance upping exhaust systems.
Yoshimura is now developing exhaust systems for bikes sold in our market, even for kapchais (small motorcycles).
During the MotoGP last week, Keiko Oshimi, international business manager from Yoshimura R&D, came down to install herself the first-in-the-world, Yoshimura Japan made slip-on muffler for the Kawasaki Ninja 250.
According to Azmi Mansor, racing event officer for Kilang Rantai SA Sdn Bhd, the local company which is now the official dealer for Yoshimura in Malaysia, it has shipped two popular kapchai models - the Yamaha 135LC and the Honda 125X - to Japan.
"Yoshimura is developing exhaust systems for these two models," he said.
Prices are not cheap, but you can be sure of its performance. The muffler for the Ninja 250 ranges from RM1,700 (stainless steel) to RM2,230 (carbon-fibre).
For the kapchai, it ranges from RM1,200 to RM1,500 (complete exhaust system).
